Understanding Boundaries
While virtual therapy at the Good Wave Foundation provides free, accessible and flexible treatment options, it's important to ensure that the rights and well-being of our therapists are protected. This page outlines the measures to safeguard therapists' rights, defines unacceptable client behaviour, and affirms therapists' autonomy to discontinue sessions if necessary.
Therapists' Rights
-
Confidentiality and Privacy:
-
Therapists will use secure, encrypted platforms for all virtual sessions to protect client confidentiality and their own privacy.
-
All communication, including emails and messages will be conducted through secure channels.
-
Clients or Therapists cannot record sessions without explicit consent from the therapist.
-
-
Professional Boundaries:
-
Your therapist will maintain clear professional boundaries, including defined working hours and methods of communication.
-
Personal contact information will not be shared unless approved by the counsellor/therapist.
-

Unacceptable Client Behaviour
-
Disrespectful Communication:
-
Any form of disrespectful or abusive language, including threats, insults, or derogatory remarks towards the therapist, is unacceptable.
-
-
Invasion of Privacy:
-
Clients should respect the therapist's privacy by not attempting to contact them outside agreed-upon methods and times.
-
Clients must not attempt to access personal information about the therapist.
-
-
Harassment:
-
Any form of harassment, including inappropriate comments, requests, or behaviours, is strictly prohibited. Therapists have the right to discontinue sessions if they feel their safety or well-being is at risk due to client behaviour. Good Wave may report such instances to relevant authorities should we see fit.
